Huge dead spot in traction
"This tire has a huge dead spot in traction between the center and side knobs that will cause you to wash your front end if you don't lay the bike over to dig the side knobs in. There are better tires in the lineup that fill this category, like the Rekon. The Ardent Race on the other hand is an excellent tire that's a lot like the Rekon with slightly less rolling resistance."

- Purchased these from you and trying to mount them to rims on a tandem bike, but it feels like I need a wider rim. Ordered these: 26x2.25 60TPI TB72569100 The liner on the factory rim says 26x20 KD-15 On the outside of the rim it says DM21 Double Wall 559x18 6061-T6 Will these work, or do we need to purchase wider rims? If so, how wide?
- It appears those rims are 18mm wide internally, which should work fine with a 2.25" tire.

- We developed the Rekon to replace the Ardent as it's a better performing tire overall.

- A 2.30 is the widest we would recommend.
- On a trail bike with 30 mm rims, I used to have Ardent 29x2.25 rear and 29x2.40 front. Some days ago, in order to have a little more grip without sacrifice too rolling speed, I ordered a pair of Rekon , 2.4 3CT and 2.25 3CS, but the latter has very little knobs… It seems more like a race ready XC tyre. So my question is: should I order another Ardent or the Rekon 29x2,25 3CS can do the job (To have better traction and cornering grip than the Ardent 2.25)? Any suggestions? Note that I’m going to have two set of wheels and this will be the light duty one. On the other one I use Aggressor on the back and a competitors (Sorry) 2.4 trail/enduro tyre on the front …
- You should be fine with your Rekon 2.40/2.25 combo. The 2.25 knob height is paired down because 2.25 is generally considered a XC size however all sizes of the Rekon are recommened for light technical conditions. The Ardent and Ardent Race are discontinued and no longer in production so if you do find you need more grip on the rear we would suggest another Rekon 2.40 if your frame allows for this size.
