Encouraging so far
"Had a great experience with Maxxis Roamers (700x42), 4500 miles of mostly tar and chip with a little CA6 gravel mixed in there too. Roamers were discontinued, but customer support recommended Metropass as a similar tire with high mileage rubber. At installation, 700x45 Metropass are nearly identical in size (actually 0. 5 mm narrower) to the Roamers, and the speed/roll resistance seem nearly identical too. Since there is actually a bit of tread instead of being semi-slicks, I am hopeful that they will perform well in snow; I'll find out in a couple months. To date, I have 135 miles on these new tires, and the midline manufacturing flash is nearly gone, and all of the microtread is still present. I'm optimistic to get 4500 miles out of these too! Performance 5 - fast, comfortable, nearly identical to the tires I replaced. Quality 4 - mounted easily, 700x45 slightly narrower than previous 700x42, reflective stripe not as concise as expected. Value 5 - if they are good for 4500 miles, I'll be quite pleased. Value will drop considerably if the high mileage compound doesn't deliver."
